Documents and Information Escambia May Require

Florida driver license or Florida ID: Escambia’s online system requires a current, valid Florida license or ID showing the homestead address.

Social Security number: the online requirements ask for Social Security numbers for applicants and spouses.

Florida vehicle registration: applicants who drive should have registration showing the homestead address.

Florida voter registration: U.S. citizens may be asked for voter registration information at the homestead address.

Trust documents: trust-owned homes require additional information during processing.

Disability proof: disability exemptions may require physician, optometrist, Social Security or VA documentation.

Veteran proof: veteran exemptions usually require VA or U.S. government proof of disability and service details.

Death certificate: widow, widower or surviving-spouse benefits may require proof of the spouse’s death.

Savings math

How Much Can the Escambia County Homestead Exemption Save?

Florida homestead savings depend on assessed value, exemptions and millage rates.

The first $25,000 applies to all property taxes, including school district taxes.

The second homestead layer applies to non-school taxes on assessed value above $50,000.

Assessed valueExample: $300,000
School taxable valueLess first $25,000
Non-school taxable valueLess first layer plus adjusted second layer
Final taxTaxable value × millage

Simple 2026 example

Assessed value: $300,000.

School taxable value: $300,000 − $25,000 = $275,000.

Non-school taxable value: $300,000 − $25,000 − $26,411 = $248,589.

This example ignores Save Our Homes, portability, senior benefits, non-ad valorem assessments and special exemptions.

Open simple homestead savings calculator

School taxable value: $275,000.00

Non-school taxable value: $248,589.00

Estimated exemption value: $51,411.00

Estimated savings: $349.29

This is educational only. Replace the example millage rates with the rates on your TRIM notice or tax bill.
08

Assessment cap

Save Our Homes and Portability in Escambia County

Save Our Homes is an assessment limitation, not a second application for the basic exemption.

Beginning the year after homestead is granted, the assessed value generally cannot rise more than 3% or CPI, whichever is lower.

If you moved from another Florida homestead, portability may let you transfer part of your Save Our Homes benefit.

SOH starts After first homestead year

The home is assessed at just value first, then the cap applies in later years.

Annual cap Lower of 3% or CPI

The cap limits assessed value increases, not millage rates or non-ad valorem charges.

Portability limit Up to $500,000

Florida portability can transfer part of the prior homestead assessment difference.

09

Age 65 benefit

Escambia County Senior Homestead Exemption

Escambia’s Property Appraiser describes an over-65 exemption for qualifying senior residents who already claim homestead.

For 2026, the listed household adjusted gross income cap is $38,686.

Escambia County senior exemption $50,000

Applies only to county taxes when the applicant meets age, homestead and income rules.

City of Pensacola senior exemption $50,000

Applies only to City of Pensacola taxes for qualifying city homeowners.

Long-term senior note 25 years / under $250,000

Escambia online guidance references a long-term senior option for qualifying senior homeowners.

Senior exemptions are not automatic for every homeowner.

Review the income cap, age requirement, city location and renewal rules before relying on the savings.
