No result for the owner’s name? Try the previous owner, another spelling or the name of a trust or business involved in the transaction.
Looking for a recent sale? A newly recorded instrument may not yet be released in the public index.
Know only the street address? Start with Jasper County’s GIS/assessment resources, then use the owner’s name or deed reference for the Recorder search.
Need older records? Ask the Recorder whether the relevant book, page or historic instrument can be located through office records.

Recording procedure
How to Record a Deed in Jasper County, Missouri
Recording a deed is different from preparing one. The Recorder accepts documents that meet Missouri recording requirements.
Staff cannot choose a deed form, write a legal description or advise which ownership transfer is appropriate for you.
-
Prepare the correct legal document.
Work with a qualified attorney or title professional when transferring property, changing title or addressing an estate or trust.
-
Check the legal description.
Missouri recording standards do not treat a street address as a substitute for a property’s legal description.
-
Verify names, signatures and acknowledgments.
Check grantor and grantee designations, required signatures and applicable notarization requirements.
-
Follow the document formatting rules.
Use approved paper, print, margins and first-page information to avoid additional charges or rejection.
-
Calculate the recording fee.
Count the pages and review the current county fee schedule, including any document-specific charges.
-
Submit the document to the Recorder.
Bring it to Annex 2 in Carthage, arrange appropriate mailing, or use an approved electronic-recording process if eligible.
Missouri recording format requirements
Paper: generally 8½ × 11 inches for standard documents.
Printing: black or dark ink, one side of the paper.
First-page top space: reserve 3 inches for the Recorder’s certification.
Other margins: generally at least ¾ inch.
Font: minimum 8-point type for essential information.
First-page details: document title, date, grantor, grantee, legal description and required references.
Signatures: typed or printed names should appear below signatures.
References: release or assignment documents may require original book/page references.
Check the Size & Ink, Margins and First Page Designations sections before submitting the document.
If your document is exempt from standard formatting requirements, verify that category with the Recorder.

Open Copy and Search InstructionsLocate the online copy-purchase instructions. Record the exact book and page numbers, then follow the payment and document-request process.

Avoid recording delays
Common Jasper County Recorder Mistakes
Using an outdated recording fee: Missouri’s August 28, 2026 fee adjustment changed the standard fee structure.
Searching for a deed using only an address: identify the parcel or owner using county assessment resources before checking the recording index.
Missing the legal description: a street address alone is not an acceptable substitute for a legal description in a deed.
Submitting an incorrectly formatted instrument: nonstandard documents may incur an additional $25 charge.
Confusing an online index entry with an official certified record: request certification when formal proof is required.
Assuming a missing online document was never recorded: indexing and verification may not yet be complete.
Contacting the Recorder for a property-tax problem: tax collection and property assessment are handled by separate offices.
Expecting Recorder staff to prepare legal documents: recording staff cannot provide legal drafting or title advice.
